Limpopo Health to set up vaccination site outside Thohoyandou Stadium ahead of Nedbank Cup quarterfinals

Limpopo’s Health Department says it will set up a vaccination site outside the Thohoyandou Stadium on Friday night, as soccer fans are expected back into the stadia after two years of absence.

Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila FC hosts SuperSport United FC in the Nedbank quarterfinals on Friday evening.

Half the capacity of the stadium – as long as fans are vaccinated – will be allowed inside.

Limpopo Health MEC Dr Phophi Ramathuba says they are committed to assisting various sporting codes to ensure that fans are vaccinated outside venues.

“We will be putting up our vaccination site just outside the stadium. So that if you are not vaccinated you can come to the stadium, we will vaccinate you and give you a manual certificate, you will use it to enter the stadium.”

“But what we are not going to do is to provide new tests. We are going to support all the leagues [and] all the games that will be played by making sure that we are there to vaccinate those who require vaccination,” explains Dr Ramathuba.

PSL Chair Dr Irvin Khoza addresses the media on the return of fans to the stadiums:
