Court declares Enoch Ndou fit to stand for trial

Reading Time: < 1 minute

The High Court in Thohoyandou, Limpopo, has ordered that the multiple murder accused, Enoch Ndou, be held criminally liable.

He must also stand trial for killing his seven family members.

A psychiatric report had indicated that although Ndou was fit to stand trial, he should be sent to a mental facility.

He is accused of gunning down seven family members in Jimmy Jones village outside Malamulele on Christmas Day of 2021.

It is not clear when the accused will be back in court.

Judge Thogomelani Tshidada has ruled that the psychiatric report is biased.

“I found that the expert report is not credible nor objective and is biased as result I found the accused fit to stand trial…capable of understanding the proceedings and to make a proper defence; and is also in a position to instruct his defence council or legal representative meaningfully. I ordered that the criminal trial continues in the ordinary courts of a criminal trial before court.”
