Ramaphosa to deliver Kgositsile eulogy

Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa will deliver the eulogy in praise of late poet and struggle stalwart, Professor William Keorapetse Kgositsile. This has been confirmed by Presidential spokesperson Bongani Ngqulung.

Ngqulung also announced that President Jacob Zuma has accorded Kgositsile a Special Official Funeral, to be held on January 16.

Kgositsile was also a recipient of the National Order of Ikhamanga for his contribution to the field of literature. The veteran, also South Africa’s first National Poet Laureate, passed away on Wednesday at the age of 79.

“President Jacob Zuma has also ordered the national flag be flown at half-mast at every flag station in the country on Tuesday, 16 January 2018, the day of the funeral. Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa will deliver the eulogy at the funeral. The Department of Arts and Culture as well as the Kgositsile family will communicate further details of the Special Official Funeral,” says Presidential spokesperson Bongani Ngqulunga.
