The court appearance of four suspects implicated in the disappearance of six-year-old Joslin Smith, who went missing more than two weeks ago, has been postponed until March 13 in the Vredenburg Magistrate’s Court on the Cape West Coast.

The suspects – Jacquen Rowhan Appollis, Steveno Dumaizio van Rhyn, Racquel Chantel Smith and Phumza Sigaqa – face charges of trafficking persons for the purposes of exploitation and kidnapping.

The case has been postponed for bail information.

Meanwhile, protestors gathered outside the court, shouting her name as leaders were whisked past the crowd into the courtyard.

Some of them carried posters with her face on, singing “senzeni na” (what have we done).

Joslin Smith disappeared on February 19 while in the care of her mother’s boyfriend.

Various searches are underway by diverse parties including the police, the Navy and municipal law enforcement agencies of the City of Cape Town and the Saldanha Bay Local Municipality where she resides.
