Polokwane City’s good start into the new 2019/2020 season is clearly showing that their Serbian coach Zltako Krmpotic is not your ordinary coach.
Krmpotic arrived at the Rise and Shine just before the start of the season to replace Jozef Vukusic and he’s already on the verge of making history with the club by reaching their first-ever cup final.
After their hard-fought 1-0 win over Kaizer Chiefs in the Absa Premiership this weekend, City have now collected 10 points from their first five matches this season and only conceded one goal from seven games in all competitions. Krmpotic who has worked with Zesco United previously, says he’s done his homework on South African football perfectly.
Since City’s loss to Bidvest Wits at home this season, they have now gone four matches unbeaten and have kept clean sheets in all these matches.
Ahead of the crucial MTN8 second leg semi-final against Highlands Park at Makhulong Stadium on Tuesday evening, we asked Krmpotic on the importance of the confidence going to this historical game for his side.
This past weekend City also missed their quality Ghanaian striker Anas Mohammed who was sidelined due to an injury but Krmpotic expects him to be ready for Tuesday’s game. – Report by Velile Mnyandu
