The South African Weather Service has forecast significant rainfall for the Cape Metropole and surroundings for Saturday that could lead to localised flooding.

Cape Town Disaster Management Spokesperson Charlotte Powell says high seas with wave heights of between 6 and 7 metres are expected along the coast from Cape Point to Plettenberg Bay with rough seas, gale force winds and very cold conditions.

“The adverse weather conditions will start easing late Sunday into Monday. As is custom, all relevant City departments and external agencies are on standby. The city also reminds residents to please report emergencies to the Public Emergency Communication Centre by dialing 021 480 7700 from a cellphone or 107 from a landline.”
