Cape Town Disaster Risk Management is on standby after the South African Weather Service alerted them of heavy and persistent rainfall on Saturday which could lead to localised flooding.

Flooding is expected over the Cape Metropole, Overberg and Winelands with another cold-front.

Disaster Management spokesperson, Charlotte Powell says up to 45 millimetres are expected over the mountainous areas.

She says: “Cape Town will experience heavy rainfall which could lead to localised flooding and mudslides.”

“The Disaster Management Centre together with other city services will be on stand-by during this period to deal with the consequences of adverse weather conditions,” says Powell.
