Johannesburg health and social development officials have visited the Westene pre-school, where two children died after allegedly eating rat poison last week.
It is alleged that the infant and a toddler were under the care and supervision of the illegal privately-run pre-school at the time of the tragedy.
City of Johannesburg’s Spokesperson, Siyanda Makhubo, says the children consumed the rat poison while playing outside the nursery school.
One of them passed away on the evening of the incident, with the other child losing the battle with life the next day.
Police are investigating the matter.
