Gauteng police probing murder, attempted hijacking of teenager in Crosby

Police in Gauteng say they are investigating a case of murder and attempted hijacking after an 18-year-old teenager was fatally shot during an attempted hijacking in Crosby, Johannesburg, on Wednesday night.

The teenager was a grade 12 pupil at the Auckland Park Academy of Excellence. He was with his father outside their home at the time of the incident.

Police Spokesperson, Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi says: “It is reported that on 10 May 2023 at about 19:30, the victim and his father were driving out of the yard and waited for the garage door to fully close when they were confronted by an unknown man armed with a firearm, who instructed them to exit the vehicle. The victim reportedly screamed and the suspect shot him once before fleeing the scene. He was rushed to a local clinic where he was certified dead on arrival.
