Five family members found dead at home in Edendale, Pietermaritzburg

Five people from the same family have been found dead at their home in Edendale, Pietermaritzburg. It is believed their bodies were discovered by a relative.

According to the police, all the victims sustained head injuries. It is believed that an axe could have been used in the murders.

The victims are an 85-year-old woman, her 45-year-old daughter and her three children: 11-year-old twins and a nine-year-old.

Provincial police spokesperson, Robert Netshiunda says, “Police in KwaZulu-Natal have launched a massive search for the suspects who are behind the murder of five family members whose bodies were found inside a house in the Mgodini area of Edendale.

“The deceased, believed to have been killed on Tuesday evening, were recovered on Wednesday afternoon by a family member. The motive for the killings is unknown at this stage. Police are appealing to anyone who might have information that may assist in the investigation or about the whereabouts of the suspects to contact the nearest police station or call the crime stop number 08600 10111.”
