Families of the Limpopo bus crash victims will identify the bodies of their loved ones at Pietersburg Hospital in Polokwane on Sunday morning. Five African National Congress (ANC) supporters died and several others were injured when a bus they were travelling in hit another at the rear and rolled down an embankment at Magoebaskloof.

They were travelling from Botlokwa to attend the party’s 112 anniversary celebration in Mpumalanga.

Health department spokesperson, Thilivhali Muavha says health authorities and police will be accompanying the bereaved families.

“Limpopo Health MEC Dr. Phophi Ramathuba alongside a dedicated team of forensic pathology experts and SAPS officials will convene to meet with the members of the bereaved family affected by the recent tragic bus incident on the R71 road near Magoebaskloof outside Tzaneen. The primary objective of this meeting is to provide support to the families as the team will be commencing with an emotional process of positive body identification in order to allow forensic pathologists to proceed with postmortems.”

Meanwhile, The ANC Limpopo Provincial Chairperson, Stanley Mathabatha, has sent deep condolences to the families affected by a fatal bus crash.
