The alleged confession of one of the accused in the Senzo Meyiwa murder trial has revealed that he was called to assist in the contract killing that singer Kelly Khumalo is accused of having ordered.

Khumalo was Meyiwa’s girlfriend before he was shot and killed at her mother’s house in Vosloorus, east of Johannesburg in October 2014.

Lieutenant-Colonel Solomon Raphadu took down Bongani Ntanzi’s alleged confession at the Moroka police station in Soweto on June 19, 2020.

Raphadu read Ntanzi’s alleged confession in the High Court in Pretoria.

“I then left for Vosloorus’s hostel. I then met with Muzi Sibiya and Sifiso Zungu, who initially gave the inside information. Later, Carlos Buthelezi and Mapisa joined the gathering at the hostel. I was briefed that the person to be eliminated or killed was Senzo Meyiwa, and the matter was initiated by Kelly Khumalo, who was going to make a payment for the whole job.”
