Concerns over police officers killing their partners

Mpumalanga Community Safety, Security and Liaison MEC Vusi Shongwe has expressed concern about the rising number of police officers gunning down their partners. This comes after a police officer shot and killed his partner and mother-in-law in Carolina on Sunday.

The police officer, Mxolisi Hlophe, appeared in the Carolina Magistrate’s Court this morning on charges of murder.

Shongwe says police officers must make use of mental health facilities.

‘‘We want to appeal to police officers in Mpumalanga, including all security agencies, that please, when they come across any problems, let them immediately seek professional advice so that their problem can be resolved amicably, other than to resort to killing their spouses and so on.”
