The trial of the two men accused of the murder of 15-year-old Mahlomola Mosweu in Coligny continues on Thursday at the North West High Court in Mahikeng.

Twenty seven-year-old Pieter Doorewaard and 34-year-old Philip Schutte are facing seven charges, including murder, kidnapping, theft and unlawful possession of a firearm.

They allegedly caught Mosweu stealing sunflowers on their farm in April last year. It’s alleged that they threw the boy from a moving vehicle, resulting in his death. They claim he jumped.

On Tuesday, both the accused pleaded not guilty to all the charges against them.

The State is expected to call about 21 witnesses on the case which will run until the 30th of this month.

Already the first witness, a specialist forensic pathologist who conducted a post-mortem on Mosweu’s body has testified.

She has told the court that 23 injuries were detected on Mosweu’s body during the post-mortem.

The prosecution seems to be confident in presenting a winnable case before the court.
