IFP leader Inkosi Mangosuthu Buthelezi took few hours from his election campaign schedule to visit flood victims in Reservoir Hills, north of Durban.
Siyabonga Zulu, his pregnant girlfriend and their four-year-old daughter perished when their shack was swept away by a mudslide. It’s believed the family was asleep at the time.

Buthelezi said he was saddened by the devastation.
“As I met the victims of the storm, I was saddened by it. Particularly, when I visited Reservoir Hills and met relatives of families that were completely wiped off. It’s quite a painful experience for me to console them because they are inconsolable.”
The IFP leader then went back on his election campaign. He stopped the Bridge City Mall encouraged party supporters to vote on 8 May.
