Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi says he never tried to stop any members of the Zulu Royal family from meeting.

AmaZulu Prime Minister Mangosuthu Buthelezi has defended allegations that he sought to block Zulu King Misuzulu kaZwelithini from meeting with his siblings.

The AmaZulu Royal family has confirmed that a meeting between King Misuzulu kaZwelithini and his sister, Princess Nombuso Zulu, took place last Friday at the kwaKhangelamankengane Royal Palace in Nongoma in northern KwaZulu-Natal.

In a statement, Buthelezi says he never tried to stop any members of the Zulu Royal family from meeting.

He further states that he continues to support King Misuzulu kaZwelithini in his role as the traditional Prime Minister and that he supports any decisions taken by the Zulu King.

Earlier, Buthelezi announced that battle lines had been drawn in the family about who should succeed the late King Goodwill Zwelithini kaBhekuzulu.
