The Traditional Prime Minister of the AmaZulu, Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi, has denied accusations that he is sowing conflict among members of the royal family.

Buthelezi announced that battle lines had been drawn in the family about who should succeed the late King Goodwill Zwelithini kaBhekuzulu.

Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi in an interview with the SABC:

He says members of the royal family, who support Prince Simakade Zulu as successor, have written a letter to the Premier.

Buthelezi announced King Misuzulu KaZwelIthini as the successor in May, based on the last will and testament of the Regent – Queen Mantfombi Dlamini-Zulu.

However, it has become apparent that other members of the royal family are nominating Prince Simakade for the throne.

Buthelezi says he did not choose King Misuzulu as the successor.

“I am quite flabbergasted to hear that accusation as it is the will that was read that named our present King as the heir and it was not myself. Even if there was no will, automatically the heir would still have been the present King, Misuzulu, because he comes from the house of the chief wife who is the daughter of his Majesty King Sobhuza II.”
