Boxing is back on SABC TV as Joyce Kungwane’s TLB Promotions staged a boxing tournament at the SABC’s Rennaisance Centre in Auckland Park on Friday night.
In the first boxing tournament to be live on SABC platforms in a long time, experienced South African boxer, Bongani Mahlangu, delivered on his promise of retaining his South African Junior Featherweight title.
A welcome return of live boxing to SABC platforms:
Mahlangu stopped Mduduzi Mzimela of Empangeni by a knockout 40 seconds into the fifth round.
The 43-year-old Mahlangu was in the same boxing bill alongside his 21-year old son Bheki Maitse. It was a jubilant night for the family as they both won their bouts.
