Bafana Bafana have shown a gutsy display in the 2023 edition of the Africa Cup of Nations tournament held in Ivory Coast. They defeated a tough Cape Verde team on penalties 2-1 in the quarter-finals.
Bafana Bafana now have a date with the Super Eagles of Nigeria on Wednesday.
Some residents of Bloemfontein have expressed their excitement ahead of the semi-final fixtures. This comes after the national soccer team, Bafana Bafana has qualified for AFCON 2024 semi-finals.
This will be the first time since 2000 that the South African team will play in the semi-finals of the AFCON competition.
Bloem residents hope the team will make it all the way to the final.
“They show, you know that they are playing towards the same goal instead of individual goals at this point. So obviously next one is a big one Nigeria. You know I think we stick to the same system used thus far you know the results will be favourable.”
“I’m just saying they have surprised me I didn’t expect them to reach this stage. But the only inconvenience is that the games are playing very late in local time. So one struggles to keep up with the penalties. So I wish them good luck in the next games and I know that the whole motivation is there for our team to win.”
“The boys played yesterday even the previous games they were on point. Yesterday they were on fire so I have hope that they will take this cup they will bring it home.”
