The African National Congress will on Thursday hold a media briefing to announce a new candidate for the North West Premier.
The position has been vacant for almost a month following Supra Mahumapelo’s resignation.
On Wednesday the ANC National Working Committee discussed names of prospective candidates.
SABC news has reliably learnt that 70 year Job Makgoro is the preferred candidate. On Friday Makgoro is expected to be sworn in as premier in the North West Provincial legislature.
The Province was engulfed in violent protest action by residents calling for former premier Supra Mahumaphelo to step down.
“The African Nation Congress will today(Thursday), which will be addressed by the Secretary General, to among others, announce the premier candidate for the province of the North West – and also give a status update on the upcoming regional and provincial conferences scheduled to happen throughout the country” says ANC Spokesperson Pule Mabe.
