The ANC says it is vindicated by the Johannesburg High Court to dismiss its suspended Secretary-General Ace Magashule’s application to appeal its earlier decision to uphold his suspension.
Magashule was suspended in May after failing to voluntarily vacate his position within 30 days in keeping with the step-aside rule.
According to the rule, all members facing criminal charges must temporarily step down until their cases are finalised.
He also insists that he’s correct in suspending party president Cyril Ramaphosa a few months ago.
Magashule is currently facing fraud and corruption charges relating to the over R250 million asbestos tender in the Free State while he was premier.
Speaking to the SABC after the judgment, ANC Spokesperson, Pule Mabe, says the party’s step-aside rule is well within the law.
