The applicants are challenging the legitimacy of the Provincial Executive Committee led by Oscar Mabuyane arguing they were elected without a quorum and correct credentials.

The Gauteng ANC Provincial General Council, underway in Pretoria, is expected to pronounce on the names of preferred candidates to be voted for at the national elective conference later this month.

Hundreds of Gauteng delegates are attending the PGC to vote for the preferred candidates.

The gathering, which started on Friday will end Sunday. Gauteng ANC deputy chairperson David Makhura says the gathering is a platform for members to finalise resolutions for the national elective conference.

“We are going to have the full day to look at the policies and the electoral commission will give us an indication what time do they need us, but our PGC ends Sunday because on Sunday we would really be going through the resolutions.”
