ActionSA rejects bribe reports for Mashaba’s biography

ActionSA has rejected media reports about a bribe by party leader Herman Mashaba to Political Analyst and author, Prince Mashele. It’s alleged that Mashele received R12.5 million from Mashaba to write the biography, titled “The Outsider”.

In a statement, ActionSA National Chairperson, Michael Beaumont disputes this as false, saying the project was initiated two years before the launch of ActionSA.

He says, in 2018, Mashele approached the then Johannesburg Mayor, Mashaba with a financial plan to write the book. Mashaba, in his personal capacity offered Mashele R12.5 million.

Beaumont adds that the party views this as an attempt to score political points, by those who want to see ActionSA go down.

Beaumont says they have been aware of this agreement with Mashele, because Mashaba was forthright about his financial support for the book.
