The National Consumer Commission has urged consumers to discontinue using Dark and Lovely Precise Diamond Straight and Shine relaxer 125-millilitre tub with batch numbers 87UD00 and 87UD01 immediately.
The commission’s spokesperson Phetho Ntaba says manufacturer Loreal informed the Commission of the voluntary recall, urging consumers to return the product for a refund.
The use of the recalled product may lead to increased hair breakage and scalp irritation.
The product was distributed nationally and to neighbouring countries including Botswana, Lesotho, Namibia, Eswatini, Zambia and Madagascar.
