DSTV Premiership defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns have gone top of the log after beating bitter rivals Kaizer Chiefs 2-0 at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium earlier on Sunday evening.
Although Chiefs were the first to threaten to score early in the match it was defender Grant Kekana who gave Sundowns the lead as early as the eighth minute.
Namibian Peter Shalulile increased Sundowns’ lead in the 63rd minute.
Amakhosi got a chance to reduce the deficit ten minutes from time, but substitute Lebogang Manyama was denied by the crossbar.
The Brazilians have now won two of their three opening matches of the season, with a single draw.
Goals from Grant Kekana and Peter Shalulile saw Mamelodi Sundowns secure a strong victory of Kaizer Chiefs on Sunday evening! ?
