A 23-year-old suspect has been arrested for transporting liquor during adjusted Alert Level 3 lockdown in Harrismith. Free State police spokesperson Motantsi Makhele says police in Phuthaditjhaba received information about a person who was transporting liquor in a funeral parlour vehicle.
The vehicle was traced and found in Harrismith. Police searched the vehicle and liquor valued at R5000 was confiscated.

The suspect will appear before the Harrismith Magistrate’s Court charged under the Disaster Management Act.
Alcohol sale ban
The country moved to lockdown Level 3 with immediate effect from December 28.
In lockdown Level 3, the sale of alcohol is prohibited.
