Ramaphosa adamant load shedding is nearing the end

President Cyril Ramaphosa is sticking to his claim, despite opposition criticism, that load shedding in the country is nearing the end.

Ramaphosa was criticised by opposition political parties for his remarks during the debate on the State of the Nation Address (SONA) in Parliament that power-cuts will soon be something of the past.

Responding to the two days of debates on SONA, he says there is evidence in support of his statement.

“I focus on work that needs to be done to take us forward. Looking back and just stalling on the bases to say who did [what] … is not the answer. The answer is getting the work done now and moving forward.”

“Businesses and households are installing roof top solar on an unprecedented scale and this administration has unleashed this energy. We have unleashed it and it is gaining momentum with the support of incentives and financing mechanisms that were introduced by government,” adds the President.
