The African National Congress (ANC) national spokesperson Mahlengi Bhengu-Motsiri has encouraged South Africans who are unable to register today to take advantage of the IEC’s online system.

The IEC says voters may check their registration status and their voting station by contacting its call centre on 0800 11 800.

They can also SMS their identity number to 32810, log on  www.elections.org. za or use the IEC Whatsapp Chatbot on 0600 88 0000.

Voter Registration | Local offices, online registrations to remain open for voter registration

The President Cyril Ramaphosa is expected to declare the election date soon.

He’s currently campaigning in Mamelodi, Pretoria, on the final day of the voter registration weekend in his capacity as ANC president.

Bhengu-Motsiri says, “Over and above that, the fact that online voter registration is still open does give us a window of hope. Now we’re going to capitalise on that. I can tell you that our strategy as the ANC is to make sure that our people utilise that window of opportunity.”
