State of the Nation Addresses compared

The State of the Nation Address is one of the most anticipated, highly watched and scrutinized speeches to be delivered by a president.

Its contents usually include guidelines and policies of what the country has set out to achieve.

On the 9th of February 2017 former President Jacob Zuma delivered his last SONA where he like former presidents, laid out the vision and goals of the country.

In his last address Zuma used the word ‘will’ over fifty times and other prominent words included economy, transformation and students.

Following in his predecessor’s footsteps President Cyril Ramaphosa‘s most repeated word from his 2018 SONA speech was also the word ‘will’.
