There is calm on Friday morning at Hoërskool Overvaal in Vereeniging as learners make their way to school.
Since the school opened on Wednesday chaos broke out outside the premises resulting in at least 20 people being arrested for public violence.
Members of the ANC and EFF protested over a court ruling that the Afrikaans medium school did not have to take in 55 English speaking learners as other nearby schools could accommodate them.
A police vehicle was also burnt on Thursday and police had to use rubber bullets and stun grenades to disperse the protestors.
A large contingent of private security and police is currently stationed at the school to monitor the situation should protest action flare up again.
