President Cyril Ramaphosa has commended those who are promoting good health alongside him.
He addressed people who joined him on his morning walk from Regina Mundi Church to Mangalane garage in Soweto.
Ramaphosa urged people to make an effort to keep the areas they live in clean.
He is one of the top brass of the African National Congress (ANC) who are visiting various communities across the country to urge all eligible voters to register and verify their details this weekend ahead of the 2019 national elections.
“The streets of our township are not very clean. We are now going to start a national campaign on cleaning the streets of our townships and where we live because when you have a healthy lifestyle and you clean the places where you live in, it opens up your mind and your head. Us in government are also trying to do that. Every Monday morning, I clean my office because I want it to be clean. I want to be fit so I can execute the task that you have given me.”
Ramaphosa further encouraged others to register to vote.
“This has been a special walk because today we got to go out in our numbers to go and encourage our people to register to vote. Today is a mobilising day. We started and we are going to end at 6:00. We will be going door to door asking our people to vote, asking our people to go and register because the next elections are going to be very important. Right now, it doesn’t matter which party you belong to, as long as you register to vote.”
