In congratulating Cyril Ramaphosa on his election as President of South Africa, the Chamber of Mines pledged to working with the new administration to move the mining industry forward and realise its full potential.

Chamber of Mines president, Mxolisi Mgojo, said that they believe that Ramaphosa is a man of vision and action.

“On behalf of our members, the Chamber wishes President Ramaphosa everything of the best as he sets about tackling the challenges created by several years of destructive governance,” Mgojo said.

“The Chamber and its members commit to working with President Ramaphosa and his new administration to help create a proper vision and strategy to help realise the true economic and transformational potential of mining, based on the vision set out in the National Development Plan.

“That commitment includes promoting ethical leadership and good governance, improving the competitiveness of mining policy and legislation, promoting transformation, competitiveness and investment and contributing to the renewal of South Africa.”

The Chamber will face off against the Department of Mineral Resources next week in court as in its application to have the Reviewed Mining Charter set aside.
