Magashule rubbishes Ramaphosa dismissal claims

Reading Time: < 1 minute

African National Congress (ANC) secretary-general Ace Magashule has refuted the SACP’s allegations that President Jacob Zuma is planning to fire his Deputy Cyril Ramaphosa and replace him with ANC National Executive Committee member Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma.

The SACP has challenged Zuma to either confirm or deny the allegations as a matter of urgency.

The SACP has also called on the ANC to recall President if he refuses to voluntarily step down.

Meanwhile, the ANC National Executive Committee (NEC) special meeting which was scheduled to take place in Cape Town on Wednesday to discuss Zuma’s fate, has been postponed to February the 17 and 18.

Magashule says, “There won’t be a meeting of the National Executive Committee because of constructive engagement between Ramaphosa and Zuma. So we will allow them the time to further engage and the meeting of the NEC will take place next weekend. There won’t be any Zuma firing Ramaphosa. The fruitful and constructive engagement between the two actually made us postpone the NEC meeting.”
