Dozens of mourners including traditional leaders, politicians and business people are expected to attend Queen Fikelephi Bhongolwethu Ndamase’s funeral at Nyandeni Great Place outside Libode in the Eastern Cape.
President Cyril Ramaphosa has declared a Special Provincial Official Funeral for the Queen of AmaMpondo aseNyandeni.
The 57-year-old dedicated her life to the nation of amaMpondo as the Regent Queen until her son, King Ndamase Ndamase took over.
She played an important role in developing programmes to assist women in poverty alleviation programmes.
The Royal family spokesperson Prince Mlimandlela Ndamase has praised President Ramaphosa for declaring of her funeral as the provincial official state funeral.
“We appreciate the declaration by the president of the republic; it again affirms that we are a diverse nation and that there is a respect for the institution of traditional leadership not only the institution but for those members of society who belongs to the traditional communities,” adds Ndamase.
