The African Christian Democratic Party (ACDP) has launched its 2019 election manifesto in Kuils River near Cape Town. Crime, education, unemployment and economic growth are the focus of the document. Hundreds of supporters gathered at the CFC Church sports ground to listen to their leader, the Reverend Kenneth Meshoe, unveil the election manifesto.
Meshoe appealed to the party supporters to use their right to vote to bring about change. The theme for the party’s election manifesto is United, Build and Grow. In what he calls seven giants of the promises, the Reverend Meshoe says crime is high on the agenda because those who break the law seem to be getting what he terms a free ride.
“One of the promises I make is that, once we have a Godly government in this country, criminals will fear the law and we will be soft and cooperative to law abiding citizens.”
On the issue of education, Meshoe says because of the party’s Christian values biblical studies will be introduced in schools if the party wins the elections.
“Once we have a Godly government, prayers and scriptures will be restored in the schools. We are going to open teaching colleges and we are going to ensure that we have enough teachers who teach children what is appropriate including regarding sex education.”
Meshoe says an education system similar to the one provided by both Cambridge University and Zimbabwe will form part of the syllabus.
“Now people might ask why you talk about Cambridge, you know it has been established that Zimbabwe had the best education system on the African continent. Do you know that the majority of science and mathematics teachers in South Africa now are from Zimbabwe? So they have an excellent education. Now that they have messed up, don’t talk about the now, but I am talking about the education system they gave their children. Very good, very smart. Now our government gave an inferior system.”
