A two-year-old baby girl has been strangled to death and a seven-year-old girl was injured by their father, at Moleketla village outside Tzaneen in Limpopo.
The injured girl managed to escape and was rescued by community members.
Their father later committed suicide.
Police say the man took his two daughters from their home and told some people that he is going to kill them.
Police spokesperson Motlafela Mojapelo says the man was staying with his daughters while their mother was in Gauteng.
“A 40-year-old man allegedly killed his two-year-old daughter by strangulation and attempted to kill his other daughter aged seven years at Moleketla village in Bolobedu on Good Friday. The man was found dead hanging from a tree. People are urged to seek help when experiencing relationship challenges and desist from resorting to violence. Police have opened cases of murder, attempted murder, and inquest.”
