An elderly Limpopo pensioner has been discharged from the Seshego hospital, outside Polokwane, with an open wound, infested with maggots, on her toe.

The family of 80-year-old Mapula Lekoloane says she was discharged without being treated.

Family Spokesperson, Winnie Lekoloane says their grandmother’s wound kept worsening while admitted to the hospital.

She says the health workers did not perform an operation as promised.

Lekoloane says they want their grandmother to receive adequate treatment.

“I want health workers to assist her to remove maggots because they give her date of the 15th of December for bunion surgery. I want them to perform the surgery and remove those maggots. We are shocked because we took her to the hospital to get treatment and she was discharged without getting any treatment.”
