Victory finally for workers fired 23 years ago

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Former Midrand municipal workers will get their jobs back after being dismissed for participating in a strike action 23 years ago.

The group downed tools in protest against alleged corruption within the council at the time.

There are reportedly about 280 workers left of the 500 who were fired.

Convener of the Midrand group, Stena Molepo says in cases whereby workers have passed on or have retired, the municipality will hire their next of kin to replace them and fill those vacancies.
