Reading Time: < 1 minute

Three people have been killed in a collision between three vehicles on the N1 between Worcester and Rawsonville in the Western Cape.

Provincial Traffic Chief Kenny Africa says nine others were injured.

Africa says, “In the one light motor vehicle, three male occupants lost their lives and in the bakkie there were nine people injured. They were all taken to the nearby hospital in Worcester.”

He says, “The police are busy with an in depth investigation. At this point in time we don’t know the cause of the accident.”

Meanwhile, traffic flows into Gauteng have started to peak  as holiday makers return home.

Traffic volumes started increasing on major roads across country from Tuesday with the N1, N3 and N4 experiencing the heaviest traffic heading into Gauteng.

The province has already exceeded the road fatalities compared with the same period last year.

Johannesburg Metro Police Department (JMPD) spokesperson Busaphi Nxumalo says speeding on the road remains a major problem.

Nxumalo says they will continue to clampdown on reckless drivers.
