Golden Arrows have leapfrogged to seventh on the log following the victory over SuperSport United with seven wins, six draws and seven losses.

SuperSport United have failed to close the gap on ABSA Premiership log leaders Kaizer Chiefs as they suffered a narrow 1-0 loss to Golden Arrows in an exciting match played at the Suger Ray Xulu Stadium on Saturday. Arrows have leapfrogged to seventh on the log with seven wins, six draws and seven losses.

The inactivity of Mamelodi Sundowns and Bidvest Wits, who are both on CAF duties, in the ABSA Premiership as well as Kaizer Chiefs who have a two week’s break in the Premiership, was a great opportunity for Matsatsantsa to play catch up without any pressure.

Orlando Pirates, who are fourth on the log, are also serious contenders for the league title, should the top two falter.

In the first half, Arrows matched SuperSport pound for pound.

Matsatsantsa came into this match third on the log with 34 points after 20 matches. In the second half, Arrows piled more pressure and were duly rewarded with an own goal that came off defender Luke Fleurs.

Arrows win means that they have collected 27 points after 20 matches. SuperSport is third on the log but is in danger of being overtaken by fourth placed Pirates.
