Sundowns not taking VUT clash lightly

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Mamelodi Sundowns will not be taking chances when they face Vaal University of Technology in the Nedbank Cup last 16 round match at Lucas Moripe Stadium in Atteridgeville on Sunday afternoon.

Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane does not usually attend opposition matches as he prefers to send his analysts. But last weekend he decided to attend the VUT match in the ABC Motsepe League.

To prove that the Brazilians are taking this match seriously they even organised a friendly match against an ABC Motsepe League team, Orbit College from North West.

On Wednesday night Sundowns were accused of deliberately getting key players booked to miss the VUT match.

There have already been surprise results in the Nedbank Cup with the likes of Hungry Lions from Western Cape beating Jomo Cosmos in the previous round. Mosimane says VUT are a closed book.

Sundowns eliminated cross-town rivals SuperSport United in the last 32 in a tough encounter, while the fourth-tier VUT shocked all and sundry to beat Golden Arrows. Mosimane says VUT have quality players. – Report by Vincent Sitsula
