The Stormers beat the Sharks by 21 points to 19 in the opening match of the Superhero Sunday at the FNB stadium in Johannesburg on Sunday afternoon with Springboks, Makazole Mapimpi and Herschel Jantjies, scoring two tries each.
At half time, the Stormers were leading by seven points to five.
It was a closely contested affair, but the Stormers held on to their slim lead to win the contest by 21 points to 19.
In the second match which was a battle between the two Gauteng sides, the Bulls came back guns blazing in the second half to beat the Lions by 40 points to 35.
The Lions scored three tries in the first half to lead by 21 points to 14 at half-time.
The Bulls scored a total of six tries, compared to the Lions’ five.
