Serbian Fugitive Dobrosav Gavric is approaching the Constitutional Court to make an application in new bid to avoid being extradited to his home country.

He claims that if deported to face his crimes he will be killed.

Gavric was arrested in 2001 for his alleged part in an assassination that left three people dead, including Serbian paramilitary leader Zelko Raznatovic, also known as Arkan.

He however has denied involvement in the murders, claiming that he was unlawfully convicted on fabricated testimony by a Serbian court. He later fled to South Africa and was later sentenced to 35 years in jail in his absence.

Gavric is applying for leave to appeal the judgment of the Western Cape High Court, which confirmed the decision by the Refugee Status Determination Officer to refuse him refugee status.

He is also reported to have been driving underworld figure Cyril Beeka when he was killed in an assassination-style shooting in Cape Town in 2011.
