The search for new non-executive SABC Board members is expected to start in earnest when Parliament’s Communication Committee meets on Tuesday morning. As of Monday, the current Board has 47 days before its term of office comes to an end.
The list of nominees and applicants for the new Board is expected to be presented to the committee on Tuesday.
The deadline to nominate persons to serve on the new SABC Board was 6 August.
The Portfolio Committee will meet to adopt the names of committee members who will serve in the sub- committee that will select and search for the best candidates.
The current Board has until 15 October before its term of office comes to an end.
Earlier, Committee Chairperson Boyce Maneli said they want to see a smooth transition from the current SABC Board to the new one by having the new board appointed on time.
He said the committee wants to avoid having an interim board.
Meanwhile, the Communications and Digital Technologies Department will brief the Committee on the vetting of SABC Executives and the corporation’s turnaround strategy.
