The search continues for two men who were swept away by the Mvoti River in Kwadukuza, north of Durban. It is believed the men got into difficulty while performing a cleansing ceremony before being swept into the river.

The search was called off on Wednesday afternoon due to inclement weather conditions.

IPSS emergency spokesperson Samantha Meyrick says, “Teams from IPSS search and rescue, Umhlali SAPS K9 search and rescue, Durban search and rescue, and KDM Marine Safety have returned to the Groutville area to search for the two men who went missing during a cleansing ceremony in the Mvoti River. The search will continue downriver in the hopes of finding the missing men and bringing closure to the families.”
