Sassa says beneficiaries who receive their payments directly from the banks, those who use Sassa cards and those who receive cash payments will all be paid as usual.

The social security agency Sassa has again assured Parliament that social grants will be paid on the 1st of April.

Sassa’s Diane Dunkerley says beneficiaries who receive their payments directly from the banks, those who use Sassa cards and those who receive cash payments will all be paid as usual.

She was briefing the Social Development Committee on the organisation’s readiness to pay grants.

This comes after the Constitutional Court extended the contract between Sassa and Cash Paymaster Services for six more months after which the Post Office will take over.

The contract was due to expire on the 31st of March.

“People who have gone cash pay-points that’s where the money will be. People who went to merchants the money will be in a Sassa card and they can access it at any bank ATM. Don’t change your behaviour in April. Go to where you’ve always gone your money will be available,” Dunkerley explained.
