A 37-year-old man accused of raping a 72-year-old woman at Ntubeni Village in Willowvale in the Eastern Cape will appear in the local magistrate’s court on Monday.
It’s alleged the granny was alone at her home when the suspect forced the door open and raped her.
Police spokesperson Jackson Manatha says he was apprehended by community members:
“Apparently the granny was alone at home when the suspect pushed the door wide open and allegedly raped her. She screamed and members of the community came in numbers they found the suspect and handed him over the police who arrested and charged him with rape. As the police we condemn this inhuman behaviour of attacks on elderly people and children.”
