Johannesburg Water says reduced consumption and recent rains have helped to stabilise reservoir levels.

Bulk water supplier, Rand Water, on Tuesday announced that stage two water restrictions would be lifted in the three Gauteng metros because reservoirs have been stabilised.

Johannesburg Water spokesperson Puleng Mopeli says, “Stabilisation of the system assisted by good rains has been a joint and collaborative effort by Rand Water and the municipalities.”

“Johannesburg Water will continue to encourage Joburgers to reduce consumption, observe level one restriction implemented from September 1, 2022 – March 31, 2023 which prohibits the use of hosepipes between 6am and 6pm. This is to ensure that the systems are stable throughout the coming hot months. In addition, the washing of paved areas and driveways using hose pipes is also prohibited,” added Mopeli.
