Political parties to meet on Monday over hung councils

With more uncertainty on what the future holds for the many hung councils at the different municipalities in the country, political parties are racing against time to form workable coalitions.

On Monday, different political parties are set to meet in Sandton, Johannesburg in order to find common ground on how the City of Johannesburg, City of Tshwane, and the City of Ekurhuleni will be governed.

Doctor Corne Mulder of the Freedom Front Plus says, among the parties that will attend the meeting are the Democratic Alliance, ActionSA, United Democratic Movement, Patriotic Alliance, African Christian Democratic Party, Inkatha Freedom Party and Congress of the People.

All these parties are represented in councils.

The Freedom Front Plus says it is hopeful that the meeting with fellow political parties will yield positive results. It remains to be seen whether or not this time around, coalition governments will work.
