Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper, Dennis Onyango, in training.

Both Pirates and Sundowns scored good wins in the CAF Champions League prelim round Wednesday night.

Pirates clobbered Light Stars from Seychelles 5-1 at the Orlando Stadium, after coming from a goal down.

The goals were scored by Thabo Qalinge, Augustine Mulenga, captain for the night Mpho Makola, Zambian international Justin Shonga and Linda Mntambo.

Head coach Micho Sredojevic was pleased after making nine changes to his starting line-up.

Sundowns beat Leones Vegetarianos 2-nil in Equatorial Guinea, with goals by Jeremy Brockie and Themba Zwane on the scorecard.

In the Confed Cup, a hat-trick from Khama Billiat and a solitary strike from Kabelo Mahlasela saw Chiefs thrash the Tanzanian side Zimamoto in the first leg.

Free State Stars and Rwandan outfit Mukura Victory Sports played to a 0-0 draw at the Bidvest Stadium.
